Today we had a presentation regarding our work in developing a layout trough out the museum of archeology. Me, Ishmael Cocker and Mark Vincent Schembri worked creating fluid free form shapes trough out the Museum creating an interesting journey to the tourist or visitor. We progressed our work from creating shapes with one peace of an A4 paper and worked the idea out on the program of 3ds Max making it applicable to the actual museum. I feel we have developed an interesting concept though it still needs work as it is only a concept not the final product.
Starting on a good point i feel we have created interesting shapes which although aren't resembling the actual museum of archeology, i feel the structured we created in a more contemporary way match with the museum itself and create harmony. Even though the structures still need some work they create an interesting aspect trought the museum. I feel the design is an ongoing whole design using the same free form though we still need to develop the concept especially trough out the smaller rooms. The display unit create an interesting shape and doesn't deduct attention from the artifacts.
We need to research on the materials as the critique has been mostly on the flooring we used which is parquet, but also finding new materials and new ways to create those structures. Also making it more innovative for the visitor and making sure the passage is clear, showing a certain continuity and the visitor knows how he has to move trough the museum.
I will post pics tommorow because i dont have the images with me at the moment , which will explain and show the design better
